About Me

        Catherine Morland, Northanger Abbey (2007) #film #Jane_Austen #read #book:

My name is Abigail, or Abby, if you like. No, I am not the girl pictured above, but I like to fancy myself that I look a bit like her. I am 18, and a Christian, saved by grace alone.

I am completely and utterly in love with history. (I'm named after Abigail Adams, after all. I had to like history!) My favorite era is colonial America, but I find America's entire 18th and 19th centuries fascinating, as well as the history of Europe. I especially like historical fashion, and could study fashion plates for ages. Most of the books I've read are historical fiction, and my best memories involve going on family vacations to see old plantations, houses, and museums.

I am also extremely fond of music. I play piano and violin (occasionally organ as well) and play violin in an orchestra. I also sing, but not exceptionally well; just tolerably. :) I am almost always listening to music. I like pretty much anything composed Mozart or before. (Some of that Romantic-era music gets kind of mushy and unorganized, if you ask me.) I also like swing music and movie soundtracks, mostly period drama ones.

Emma in the rain, Romola Garai, 2009:

I really enjoy watching period dramas, and reading the books they were based off of. Jane Austen movies are always wonderful (unless they are Pride and Prejudice 2005, but I don't really want to get into that sticky mess!). Little Women and The Last of the Mohicans are two of my favorite non-Austen dramas.

I like many other things as well. For a fairly complete assertation of my character and interests, see my Pinterest page. :)
Thank you most kindly for stopping by! I hope this blog gives you joy, satisfaction, or at least a simple diversion!

Sincerely Yours,
Abigail

    1. Woohoo, a viola player! They're pretty rare around here (and probably everywhere). We play some classical music, which I love, some Copland (not my favorite), and some movie music.

    3. Let's see, I think we've played Rodeo Hoe Down and Appalachian Spring, which I liked, but also Fanfare for the Common Man and Our Town, which weren't my style. I've never heard the Clarinet Concerto though!
